1862, July 26. Large registered envelope from London addressed to ''His Majesty the Emperor of all Russias'' in St. Petersburg with further manuscript ''For his own hand'' in Russian, franked with pair of 1856 1 s. green (defective) tied by oval barred ''24'', alongside red crowned ''Registered'' with respective oval datestamp adjacent, Prussian ''Aus England Per Aachen/Franco'' and framed ''Recomandirt'', backstamped on arrival. Reverse with St. Petersburg chancellery receipt. Some cover edge imperfections affecting the franking, nevertheless a very scarce registered letter to Russia, of utmost desirability and fascination directed to the Tsar Alexander II. S.G. 69.
