1847, 5 c. blue ''Lady Mc Leod'', exhibiting superb colour and crisp impression, with clear margins on two sides, the other two being incredibly large, unused without gum. The steamship ''Lady Mc Leod'' served between Port of Spain and San Fernando carrying mail, passengers and freight. In April 1847, David Bryce, the owner of the steamship, made a stamp available so that anyone (or 'any passengers') who wished to send letters were able to prepay the charge for carrying post on board the ship. An extremely rare and famous stamp of the British Empire, of even more significance in such exceptional quality. Certs. Brandon, Philatelic Foundation N.Y. and A. Diena. SG 1 = 25,000 £.
