1859, 5 c. grey violet, a most remarkable strip of three which exhibits one of the scarcest shades of this value, attractively margined with clear to large spaces, showing an uneven intensity of shades due to an inconsistent inking of the stone in the printing process, paying the 15 c. single rate not exceeding 10 gr. for a distance up to 450 kms. (345 kms. in this case), on 6 September 1859 entire letter from Salina de Chita to Bogotá, with multiple tied by very elusive ''Chita/Franca'' double oval. Illustrated on page 6a of Dieter Bortfeldt's ''Colombia Philatelic Handbook and Catalogue''. Cover has some wrinkles including one very slightly impinging on the strip, of no importance for this major postal history rarity of Colombian philately, being unique bearing the only recorded multiple of this denomination, as well as the largest strip of any value in the first issue; its major importance is further enhanced by the fact that it also represents the second earliest recorded use on cover in Colombian philately. Cert. Bortfeldt. Scott 3e; Yv 2. Ex Frohlich.
