1859, 5 c. violet, an extremely fresh copy graced by a remarkably intense bright shade, ample to large margins, together with 10 c. red brown, showing an unusual oily impression with wide even margins all around, both required to pay the single domestic rate for a distance between 150 and 450 km. on 24 September 1859 entire letter from Barranquilla to Mompós, cleanly tied by ''Barranquilla/Franca'' oval handstamp. Illustrated on page 6 of Dieter Bortfeldt's ''Colombia Philatelic Handbook and Catalogue''. Some trivial faint toning of no significance as the franking is not affected. A rare first issue combination cover which is of fundamental significance for an advanced collection on the classic period, being even more remarkable by having been carried during the first month of issue, an early period from which few covers are recorded. Cert. Bortfeldt. Scott 3, 4; Yv 2, 4a. Ex Hubbard.
