1853, 50 r. yellow green, strip of three, large margins all around, used on 20 rs. stamped judicial document, travelled through the mail at six-fold rate up to 1 5/8 oz from Chaves to Porto, cancelled by “180” numeral postmarks of Chaves. Small corner crease at bottom left well clear of the design, as well as central oval profile design split at right, due to heavy printing of the die, of no importance. The usage of postage stamps on judicial documents carried through the post (which also occurred in Brazil) was for the exclusive payment of the appropriate postal rate and not a fiscal usage. An extremely rare multiple franking on postal document, of which only five are recorded. A very desirable rarity of this value. Cert. NFACP. Af 3 = € 34,000; Mi 3a.
