1863, Sept. 14. Entire letter from Glasgow via Calais to Mexico City bearing 1 s. green pair, pl. 1, used to pay the double rate per 1 oz, tied by ''159'' duplexes and French entry cds in transit, carried by French ''Louisiane'' steamer with very fine cds (Salles 1.311) at base dated 16.9 showing the year inverted with number ''6'' missing, rated ''6'' Reales on arrival covering the domestic fee from Veracruz to destination. Covers originating from European countries, and therefore bearing frankings other than French, are rarely encountered in combination with a French maritime marking; this cover, including the ''Floride'' marking, is the only recorded example. An impressive rarity for both collectors of British postal history and French Maritime Mail. SG 90.
