Italian P.O. in Egypt. 1871, Sept 14. Entire letter from Cairo to Bologna (Italy) ''franked'' with 1867 1 pi. red and Italy 1863 40 c. red-carmine, both previously used and applied already cancelled. Manuscript on front ''Particolare'': from this endorsement, it may be deduced that the letter was carried privately and was ''franked'' in order to avoid the payment of postal dues, in case this service, contrary to the postal monopoly, was found out. A rare and very interesting postal fraud. Cert. Sorani. S.G. 14.
