Cover to Paris, franked by 1874 1 r. carmine with ''Contra Sello'' handstamp in combination with 1879 1 c. green and 5 c. blue (2), tied by blue target cross types with ''Correos de San Salvador'' cds at left also in blue, also showing ''Pasó el Correo'' straight-line and French entry on front. Panama transit backstamp. The UPU rate to France via Panama was 11 c. thus this cover was overpaid 1c. Tear at top of cover extends from left of 1 c. adhesive to edge of upper 5 c. stamp, nevertheless a very scarce mixed franking. Cert. Moorhouse. Scott 10, 13, 15. Ex Hennan.
