(one stamp vertically creased at cover edge) and damaged pair of 10 s. on reverse, all tied by ''Gerusalemme'' cds's (Tchilinghirian/Tranmer fig. D), showing unframed ''Recom.'' and ''Franco'' handstrucks. Very fine cds of Kishinev on back. Despite faults, still a very desirable and scarce registered cover, enhanced by the rare destination. Entire letter from Gand to Narva (Estonia), paid at single 1 fr. rate with very fresh strip of five of 1858 first plate 20 c., showing three ample margins slightly in at lower places, cancelled by ''45'' bar cancels of Gand, matching cds at bottom, also tied by ''Aus England Per Aachen/Franco'' transit in red. Reverse with credit rate notation to Russia and Belgian t.p.o. ''Est N° 2'' cds. A very scarce multiple to a rare destination, an impressive exhibition item full of character. Mi. 8I.

1871, Jan. 17. Ballon Monté carried by ''Poste de Paris''. Envelope from Paris to St. Petersburg at 80 c. rate via Prussia, bearing 1867 Empire Laureated 80 c. tied by dotted star ''1'' matching ''Paris/Pl. de la Bourse'' cds adjacent, with red crayon ''wf 2'' weiterfranko. The ''Poste de Paris'' left the North Station in Paris on the 19th of January and arrived to Marseloo (Holland), then was forwarded to destination via Prussia. A remarkable Ballon Monté to an unusual destination. Cérès = € 13'500.

Large registered envelope from London addressed to ''His Majesty the Emperor of all Russias'' in St. Petersburg with further manuscript ''For his own hand'' in Russian, franked with pair of 1856 1 s. green (defective) tied by oval barred ''24'', alongside red crowned ''Registered'' with respective oval datestamp adjacent, Prussian ''Aus England Per Aachen/Franco'' and framed ''Recomandirt'', backstamped on arrival. Reverse with St. Petersburg chancellery receipt. Some cover edge imperfections affecting the franking, nevertheless a very scarce registered letter to Russia, of utmost desirability and fascination directed to the Tsar Alexander II. S.G. 69.
