NEXT PUBLIC AUCTION - 25/27 SEPTEMBER 2009

URUGUAY - “Tête-Bêche” pair. Ex Pack, Hoffmann and Bustamante.

ARGENTINA - The finest “tête-bêche” in existence. Ex Duke of Polignac, Schatzkes, Hubbard and Alemany.

URUGUAY - The most important item in Uruguayan philately. A gem of the philatelic world. Ex Wonner, Ferrer, Pack, Lee, Hoffmann and Hubbard.

COLOMBIA - The "Crown Jewel" Cover of Colombian philately, being the only recorded bearing the number 1 as well as the largest multiple and only block of four in existence of any value in the first issue. A great rarity of South American philately. Ex Santa María.

Investphila is delighted to announce a magnificent auction event featuring world-class South American philately to be offered in our Autumn auction series, which will take place from September 25th to 27th 2009. The auctions will feature some of the most important philatelic assemblies of South America ever to have been offered at public auction, including, among others, three spectacular sections which will be presented in a luxurious catalogue:

- The extraordinary "Patagonia" collection of Classic Argentina
which includes most of the greatest rarities in existence, such as, among others, the famous Córdoba 10 c. complete sheet, great world rarities of the "Escuditos" unused Tête-Bêches, the legendary "Rivadavia" cover bearing first printing 5 c. and 15 c. (being the most important postal history item in Argentinian philately) and  the only known unused pair of 10 c. green from the sixth imperforate printing.

- The three legendary Juan Santa María collections of Classic Colombia, Antioquia and pre-adhesive postal history of Colombia, each awarded an International Large Gold Medal including Honour Class awards. The pre-philatelic section will feature more than 100 covers including several previously unrecorded items. In addition, the classic philatelic period will include some of the most important covers in existence, including the unique block of four of "number one" on cover ( which is also the largest multiple recorded of any value in the first issue), as well as the famous cover franked by a 10 Pesos, being unique as showing the highest denomination in the classic period.

- A stunning selection of Uruguay which includes most of the greatest classic rarities recorded, featuring two of the greatest world classic rarities: the renowned "Ferrer Block" of "Diligencias" and the "Block Type" issue with the famous 120 c. Tête-Bêche vertical pair, as well as many other important rarities including most of the existing registered covers.

The general sale will feature the complementary and keenly-awaited South American section with important Argentina (ABN issues), Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, and the second part of the Uruguay "Concordia" collection, as well as Europe including outstanding material from the Italian Area, Luxembourg first issue specialized, Greenland parcel post issues (International Gold Medal Collection) and a classic Spain selection.

With this spectacular auction, Investphila confirms its foremost position once again as the leading Philatelic Auction House in the World market.

The luxurious and accurately described catalogues will be available at the beginning of September, and will undoubtedly prove to be an indispensable work of reference for discerning collectors of these fascinating areas.
The catalogues will also be available on our web site.
