1770 ca. Entire letter (nearly complete) from Santiago to Buenos Aires, rated ''3'' reales in manuscript according to the double weight letter rate of 1765, bearing superb strikes in dark brown of ''Chyle'' and ''Franca'' handstamps. The only cover known bearing these both handstamps, being of special significance showing the earliest postmark (''Chyle'') used in Chile, which is a great scarcity and unlisted in the SFC catalogue in this colour. Probably one of the most important colonial period items extant. Ex Lafuente Machaín and Balletti.
