1855-56, 5 r. brown red, die I, pair and strip of three, cut into in few places mostly due to a shifted alignment of the units in the sheet, otherwise complete to very large margins, the strip presenting slight wrinkles only at right due to having been applied on a wax seal. Both multiples applied to pay the single 3/8 oz rate on reverse of July 13, 1855 entire letter from Valença to Oporto, tied by “110” numeral postmarks, repeated on front together with blue Valença cds, backstamped on receipt. An extremely rare franking, being the largest on cover in existence, of which only three are recorded. One of the most significant items of this value. Af 5I; Mi 5.
