1869-73, 1/2 r. blue, two copies, together with three examples of 1 r. yellow-orange, stamps cut into slightly in places, making a most unusual combination to pay the double weight letter rate up to 1/2 oz to an external destination, on 1st June 1871 entire letter from Guayaquil to Lima (Peru), tied by "Franca" dotted lozenges on dispatch, backstamped on receipt. Letters other than judicial correspondence bearing exceptional frankings are rare. This item, exhibiting a unique franking on private correspondence, constitutes one of the most important frankings in Ecuadorian philately. Highly desirable item. Scott 2, 4.
