1853, 25 r. dark blue, die I, a very fresh copy from the bottom left corner of the sheet, deep brilliant colour and superb embossing,  clear to immense sheet margins, large part of original gum. 1855-56, 100 r. lilac, a large margined strip of three, detailed impression, tied by ''1'' numerals to 16 October 1864 cover from Lisbon to Genoa (Italy), paying a double rate up to 15 ''gramas'' via Spain and France by land to Italy, with framed ''P.D.'' and oval ''Lisboa'' datestamp, backstamped on arrival. 1856-58, 25 r. blue, die I, a marginal block of nine, still with part of original gum after use, sizeable sheet margin at left, the others being wide to large, showing shifted alignment of vertical rows, with each stamp cancelled by ''115'' numeral of Castro Daire. Trivial diagonal crease not visible on front. A very scarce and spectacular multiple. Af 12I; Mi 10II.

1856-58, 25 r. carmine rose, die VI, complete sheet of 24, very large to immense sheet margins, cancelled by ''140'' numeral postmarks of Alvaiazare. Each stamp with profile splitting reinforced with hinges on reverse, a usual fault associated with the classic Portuguese issues, of no significance. Of very attractive appearance for such a large multiple. Af 13VI; Mi 11. Ex Burrus and Lima.

 

1862-64, 5 r. brown, die III, block of 12, showing uneven alignment of transfer in bottom horizontal row, clear to large margins, cleanly cancelled by barred ''129'' numerals of Pinhel. 1862-64, 10 r. yellow orange, two copies in remarkably contrasting shades, used in combination with 5 r. brown, die II, mostly good margins, all franking a single weight cover from Lagoa (Azores Islands) to Portimão, tied by ''212'' numerals with very fine and elusive corresponding ''Lagoa'' oval handstamp at bottom left. An outstanding and most impressive franking with two 10 r. values in distinctly different shades. Af 14, 15; Mi 12II, 13.

1862-64, 10 r. yellow orange, a large margined pair, used together with 50 r. green on front of cover from Lisbon to Cádiz (Spain), cancelled by ''1'' numerals with corresponding ''Lisboa'' cds and ''Cádiz/Franco'' datestamp alongside. Carried at double 70 r. rate up to 15 gr., according to the postal convention with Spain. Very scarce. Af 15, 17; Mi 13, 15.

1862-64, 25 r. carmine rose, die V, complete sheet of 24 on piece, huge sheet margins all around, showing slightly shifted arrangement of vertical rows at left, cancelled by Almodóvar “194” numerals. Some toning overall, nevertheless very scarce and impressive. Af 16; Mi 14.
